First-Year and Transfer Students
Admission requirements are different for first-year and transfer applicants.
- First-Year Student: You are considered a first-year student if you are currently in high school, have not attended college after high school or after receiving a high school equivalency (like a GED)
- Transfer Student: You are considered a transfer student if you have attended college after earning a high school diploma or equivalent

Admission and application requirements
First-Year students qualify for admissions when they’ve completed all college preparatory coursework in high school and have an unweighted cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
As a first-year student your application will include:
- An online or paper application
- A $60 application fee (waivers available)
- Official high school transcripts that originate from either a school, college, or a digital transcript service
- Official SAT or ACT test scores, or an essay with Test Optional Admissions

Transfer Student Admission
Admission and application requirements
Transfer students qualify for admissions when they have a cumulative college GPA of 2.0
or higher, and a 2.0 GPA or higher in their last quarter or semester attended.
As a transfer student your application will include:
- An online or paper application
- A $60 application fee (waivers available)
- Official college/university transcripts
If you have less than 40 transferable credits you will also need to include:
- Official high school transcripts
- Official SAT or ACT test scores, or an essay with Test Optional Admissions

English Language Proficiency Requirement
All international applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency. These are the ways students can meet this requirement:
One of the following minimum English language proficiency test scores demonstrated through submission of official scores at the time of application:
- TOEFL: a score of 79 or higher (iBT) ; a score of 550 or higher (paper); a score of 5 or higher (New TOEFL iBT CEFR Online Test)
- IELTS: a score of 6 or higher
- Duolingo English Test: a score of 105 or higher
- Sufficient grades in two college-level English composition courses at a U.S. college or university: 1) “B” (3.0) or higher in both English Composition 101 and English Composition 102 or equivalent 2) A total of 40 transferrable quarter hour credits
If you are a first-year applicant and English is your primary language of instruction, you have two options to meet the requirement:
- Submit an official set of test scores from either the ACT or the SAT. An ACT composite score of 24 or an SAT combined critical reading and math composite score of 1,100 are acceptable.
- Submit an official letter from your high school elaborating that all instruction was conducted in English and your English proficiency level is sufficient for college level studying
