Let’s Look at the Data! (day)

This Intermediate and Advanced level class will guide students to gain familiarity in research data analysis. We will read texts, charts, graphs and tables on fascinating environmental topics that has been on most people’s mind these days, such as, “sustainability,” “deforestation” “climate change,” “food,” “ocean plastics.” While learning fact-based knowledge, we will enhance our ability to understand and interpretate gathered data and will learn how to conduct data analysis ourselves. Students are encouraged to apply data analysis in their own research and teach the class about the significance of their findings. Through reading, writing, discussion and presentation we will accumulate our knowledge and develop our research capacity from this collaborative learning process.

This course will benefit students who have academic and career interests in Environmental Studies, Government, Public Health and Health Policies, Social Services, Education, Biomedical Sciences.

Course Objectives:  Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:

• Gain comprehensive knowledge on various data on environmental challenges.
• Analyze and weight the importance of research data.  
• Employ knowledge of data analysis as a means of communicating ideas on possible change and improvement.
