Credit, Evaluations and Standing (Permanent)
Please refer to Interim Policy 7.601 for special provisions enacted during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Academic credit
Evergreen students will accumulate academic credit for work well done and levels of performance reached and surpassed. Only if students fulfill their academic obligations will full credit be entered on their permanent academic records. Otherwise, there will be either no entry, or the recording of fewer units of credit will represent what they have actually accomplished.

Combined Undergraduate and Graduate Degree Programs
OVERVIEW
Graduate programs can create a sequential combined undergraduate/graduate degree program according to the following guidelines. Proposals for such degree programs must be submitted and approved by the Provost’s Office for each degree combination.
Use of Human Subjects
General Policy
This policy regarding the use of human subjects recognizes the responsibility to protect the rights, well-being and personal privacy of individuals, to assure a favorable climate for the conduct of academic-oriented inquiry and to protect the interests of The Evergreen State College. The following practices and procedures have been established for the conduct of activities involving human subjects.
Upside Down Degree Program
Students holding vocational or technical associate degrees from certain approved two-year colleges and programs may be eligible for Evergreen's Upside-Down Degree program. The office of admissions will review a student's record in order to determine possible eligibility and, if approved, the academic advising office will assist the student in formulating an educational plan. In general, this plan will require 90 credits at Evergreen in liberal arts, with a minimum of 32 credits in coordinated studies outside the academic area of the two-year degree.
Upper Division Credit Designation
- Only science upper-division credit is asterisked in credit equivalencies.
- An explanation is included with the transcript: “Asterisks next to credit equivalencies indicate upper-division science credit that can be applied toward fulfillment of the B.S. degree. Upper-division credit in other subjects is indicated in program descriptions, evaluations of students, and/or titles of course equivalencies.” Faculty will specify level of the class (e.g., first year, all-level, upper division) at the beginning of the program description.
Timely Evaluations of Students' Work
Every student at Evergreen has the right to receive a prompt and thorough evaluation of work completed. This is an essential element of the learning and, therefore, of the teaching process. Consequently, it is the responsibility of every member of the faculty to complete the evaluation of each student's work in a timely fashion at the end of an academic program, internship or individual learning contract. At the end of each quarter, students for whom evaluations are required are indicated on my.evergreen.edu. .
