Academic Deans Salary Grid and Guidelines

The dean salary grid is based on the faculty salary grid and reflects a twelve-month salary at each experience year.  All faculty members are initially assigned an experience year based on a combination of academic degrees, teaching experience and relevant work experience. Faculty members' salaries are not affected by their academic discipline.

After initial determination, the experience year will increase by one (1) for each previous year of service(twelve months). The deans receive an additional 6% above the initially assigned experience year for the first year and will receive an additional 1% (up to 10%) for each year of service at their accrued experience year. The deans accrue 24 days of vacation leave each year and are covered by the faculty sick leave plan.

Academic Degrees

1. One year for a MS/MA
2. Two years for all work toward a Ph.D. except the dissertation
3. Three years total for a Ph.D. or equal professional degree
4. Additional and other kinds of degrees (such as two master's degrees in unrelated fields) will be evaluated on an individual basis.

Work Experience

1. One year for each full-time academic teaching year or its equivalent.
2. One year for each year post doc or research fellowship.
3. One year for work experience directly related to teaching.
4. One year for each 2 years of work experience outside of teaching.
5. Other credits depend on particular experiences and are determined during the interview process. For example, credit is given for Peace Corps experience, for Vista experience and for K-12 teaching experience.
