Location

I teach courses for the Marine Bioresources Certificate in the Professional and Continuing Education Program. I am also a Research Scientist at the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. Together with Treaty Tribes, I co-manage some of the commercial shellfish fisheries in Puget Sound. I'm also part of a diverse partnership to restore populations of the endangered pinto abalone. My previous research has focused on the population connectivity of marine invertebrates and the consequences of plastic pollution in the marine environment. Education

PhD., Ecology, UC Davis & San Diego State University, 2008; B.A., Environmental Science, The Colorado College, 1999.

Teaching Style

I approach teaching from a customer service perspective. When students entrust me with their valuable resources and time, I try to ensure that they are receiving a good value. This includes seeking the best way to deliver that value to different students, soliciting feedback, adapting course content and structure, and holding students and myself to a high standard of performance.
