This interdisciplinary course will cover the history of public health, core concepts (i.e., biostatistics, epidemiology, social and behavioral sciences, health services administration and environmental health sciences), scientific communication, intersectionality of oppressive systems, and the scope of the field. In this class, students will learn how to apply principles of leadership and/or management to address socioecological challenges and the policy-making process. Students will assess population needs and design a policy, program, or intervention to promote health. Students will also evaluate current public health policies and programs.
