In this first session hybrid course, students engage with the “Gifts of the Land” Garden at s'gʷi gʷi ʔ altxʷ: House of Welcome. We harvest plants with which we create dye, ecoprints, and medicine in the context of sustainability and community herbalism. We learn basic dye and medicine-making techniques, and discover additional medicinal and dye plants. We also practice reciprocity for the “Gifts” of the garden by offering garden care. Students may continue in Session #2 with Independent Study. This program is appropriate for both beginning and experienced students.
