Planning for Your Next Steps
Even if you don’t know what you are planning for sure, talk to your faculty and advisors about what you are thinking, this way they can walk you through your options and help you navigate your next steps.
Work with your faculty to design your capstone to highlight your knowledge and skills in the disciplines and areas you want to pursue after college – this is especially important if you plan to continue your studies in graduate school.
Design your Academic Statement for future readers, like potential employers and graduate school admissions committees.
Get support describing your education, reviewing your resume and applications, and go over your options with Academic and Career Advising.
Applying for Jobs
Ask your faculty or advisors to review your application materials so you can get feedback before submitting your application.
Faculty and advisors are great professional and character references since they know your work the best and can speak to your work ethic and collaborative nature.
Applying to Graduate School
Different programs have different application deadlines and standardized testing requirements, as soon as you have made a decision make sure to check the requirements for the programs you are interested in
Depending on the program you choose, you may need to consider applying during an early deadline, this is often a consideration for medical school
Speak to your faculty about letters or recommendation and request them at least a month in advance so they have time to write something that really highlights your achievements
