Olympia, WA - The Evergreen State College is pleased to share that Acacia Engram, a second-year student at Evergreen, has been appointed by the governor as the new student trustee. Engram brings with her a passion for empowering student representation and making positive change in the Evergreen community.
In addition to being an engaged member of the campus community, Acacia is actively committed to her community. As a member of the Makah tribe as well as representing the Colfax family, she is passionate about working with her tribe, community, family, and Evergreen. Her current academic journey has led her to studying agriculture, intertribal work, and more in the Native Pathways Program.
“I'm happy to see what I can learn from this experience that can lead to a positive change,” said Acacia. “In hope of this new role, I can understand the inner working of Evergreen and understand all student perspectives.”
In her free time Acacia enjoys hanging out with her family and working with her tribe and community with fish packing and reselling fish as well as cooking and working at her family restaurant. She joins the board ready to learn and bring her unique perspective to build closer connections.
We’re honored to welcome Engram to the Board of Trustees as the student representative. Her dedication to leadership and building a more connected campus community will be a tremendous asset as the college continues to deliver a world-class education in an inclusive and collaborative environment.
