Olympia, WA — The Evergreen State College and South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) are proud to launch a new partnership that strengthens pathways for SPSCC students pursuing a four-year degree locally. The new transfer program enables SPSCC students earning an associate degree in science or business to seamlessly continue their education at Evergreen in Environmental Science and Sustainability, Biology and Chemistry for Health Fields, and Business Innovation and Leadership.

SPSCC-to-Evergreen transfer students will benefit from a streamlined, student-centered admissions process designed to eliminate barriers and accelerate their academic journey. With no application fee, no essays or recommendation letters, and rolling admissions, students will find their transition from the community college to Evergreen more accessible than ever. Plus, transfer students will receive specialized academic advising, priority registration, a dedicated orientation, and financial aid guidance to support a smooth transition and long-term success at Evergreen.

“We’re working to ensure students have clear degree plans, financial aid strategies, and connections to their future transfer campus before they leave SPSCC—and ideally, before they even begin here,” said SPSCC President Dr. Timothy Stokes.

"Evergreen welcomes SPSSC students, and SPSCC students thrive at Evergreen.” said Evergreen President Dr. John Carmichael “We're delighted to have new ways of easing that transition."

As the two institutions announce the new transfer program to the community, they are looking toward the future of Thurston County.

Evergreen strives to continue removing barriers to higher education and providing students with a clear, supportive path to achieve their educational goals, and this initiative further strengthens that effort.

“We’re looking forward to the progress we can make to improve post-transfer success rates for SPSCC students,” said Dr. Stokes, “and our shared mission with Evergreen is to graduate successful students who will make an impact on our community and their families’ lives.”
