The Evergreen State College has welcomed fourth-year student Nathan Tippmann as the newest student member of the college’s Board of Trustees.
Originally from Rapid City, South Dakota, Tippmann is studying political science at Evergreen and brings extensive experience in student advocacy, journalism and community education to the board.
During his time at Evergreen, Tippmann has served as a student lobbyist and newspaper editor, as well as a board member of the Olympia World Affairs Council and student representative for the Critical Edge Alliance. Through these roles, he has worked to strengthen civic awareness, document student experiences and encourage learning and dialogue across significant differences.
As student trustee, Tippmann will bring a student perspective to the Board of Trustees and hopes to focus particularly on college access and ensuring students have the resources they need to succeed.
“I think it’s incredibly important to be a champion for basic needs right now, and so I hope to focus on that while on the Board of Trustees, along with other methods of ensuring college access for all,” Tippmann said.
The student trustee provides an important connection between Evergreen students and the college’s governing board, bringing firsthand experience of student life and learning to conversations about Evergreen’s present and future.
Tippmann joins Evergreen’s Board of Trustees during the 2026–27 academic year.
