OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Evergreen State College has welcomed Jeremy Caudle as its new vice president for finance and administration, bringing more than a decade of public-sector leadership and financial management experience to the college.
Caudle joins Evergreen after serving as city manager for Dayton, Oregon, where he led city operations and managed an $8.1 million budget. His work there included securing state and grant funding for critical infrastructure, supporting affordable housing development, and improving city hiring processes. He previously served as city administrator for Lowell, Oregon, and Inman, South Carolina, and as budget manager for Mesa County Government in Colorado.
At Evergreen, Caudle leads a team of more than 160 employees and oversees a portfolio of more than $64 million, with responsibility for accounting, auxiliary services, budget, facilities, human resources, information technology, logistics and purchasing, and police services.
“I’m excited to join Evergreen and to be part of an institution with such a distinctive mission and strong sense of community,” Caudle said. “Finance and administration are ultimately about creating the conditions that allow students, faculty and staff to do their best work, and I'm looking forward to helping Evergreen build for the future.”
Caudle succeeds John Reed, who served as Evergreen’s interim chief financial officer during the college’s 2025-26 academic year and helped guide the institution through a challenging budget environment.
Caudle holds a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy, summa cum laude, from Appalachian State University. He is also a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources. Caudle began his role at Evergreen in late July.
