Have you ever considered pursuing professional game design? This class is set up to walk students through the steps required for careers in freelancing and games entrepreneurship and publishing. In this class students will have the ability to run high-level playtests of their games, developing complex and nuanced drafts through a series of revisions. They'll develop a marketing, production, and publishing plan for their game, doing research into games that are comparable to their own in terms of scope or theme. In addition, they will practice the type of writing that they might do as freelancers in the tabletop roleplaying games industry, receive feedback, and hone their skills, ultimately developing a foundational game design portfolio. Notably, this class is primarily focused on tabletop roleplaying games but board games, card games, and video games are conditionally admitted. Email the professor for more information.

Intro to Tabletop Roleplaying Games is not a prerequisite but students must demonstrate that they'll have a playtestable first draft of a game by the start of the quarter.
