Students can take this course first session, second session, or take both sections over the full session.

Both sessions are distance learning (i.e., we will meet on Zoom).

First Session (4 credits) : The first session will focus on enhancing writing skills needed for communicating with academic and popular audiences. Students will study the art of composition, with an emphasis on improving writing projects typically associated with the effective dissemination of information to a community, such as resource materials, manuals, and position papers.

Second Session (4 credits): During second session, students will shift to focus on improving their creative writing skills. We will engage in a variety of effective creative writing exercises, learn how to write a credible protagonist, and we will engage in weekly readings of of student work. Students will also create a work of flash fiction and read it to the class.

Full Session (8 credits) : Students will complete the work in both areas listed above.
