Who portrays the scientist in popular media? How is science incorporated into the plot of films, novels, television shows, and plays? What scientific advances have impacted the film industry? In this program we will saturate ourselves with examples of characters and plots that involve science: Beaker to Ms. Frizzle; Frankenstein to Dexter; James Bond to Black Panther. The science of light and sound, which are crucial to entertainment technology, will also be explored.

Through these perspectives we will focus on improving public speaking skills and written communication. Lectures, workshops, seminars, a field trip, individual and group projects, plus a couple of laboratory experiments are anticipated. No previous math or science is needed to participate. Join us for a fun exploration of The Science That Entertains Us.
