This course is the equivalent of ECED& 105 and is intended to meet the first of three courses required for the Washington State’s initial certificate in early childhood education. Students in this course will study early learning theories, foundational principles, and the influence they have on contemporary practices in early learning settings. Students will broaden their knowledge base and understanding on the importance of creating a culturally responsive environment. They will also learn how imperative it is for children to have a supportive relationship in their formative years and its influence on children’s growth and development in areas of social emotional, executive functions and academic skills.
