Taught By:
We will explore the intersection where value meets cost in health care. We will review paradoxes and costs in the health care system that hinder patient access, preventative care, and treatment. The books Redefining Health Care and The 2019 Annual Health Reform Update will guide our study of unintended consequences and disconnects between incentives and desired outcomes. We will also consider broad-scale redesign of the system so as to bring outcomes into alignment with the good of the patient. We will view several films concerning redesigning the system. Further, we will study complementary and alternative treatments that can support healthier communities.
