This course is the equivalent of ECED& 107 and is intended to meet the second of three courses required for the Washington State’s initial certificate in early childhood education. The course will provide an introduction to implementation of equitable health, safety and nutrition standards for the growing child in group care and focus on federal Child Care Block Grant funding (CCDF) requirements, WA state licensing and Head Start Performance standards. Students will develop skills necessary to keep children healthy and safe, report abuse and neglect, and connect families to community resources. Building on the foundation which is laid in ECED& 105, students will come to understand how imperative it is for children to have a supportive relationship in their formative years and its influence on children’s growth and development in areas of social emotional, executive functions and academic skills.
