Building on foundational design knowledge from fall quarter's Graphic Design I, in this course students will learn about brand identity development, publication design, and visual communication across print and digital formats. You will apply design principles to create and refine visual systems, explore branding concepts, and develop projects that integrate typography, layout, and visual hierarchy.
Through project-based assignments, you will strengthen your technical skills while advancing your ability to think critically about audience, message, and design intent. In addition to brand development, publication design, and layout design, the course will help you to continue to develop your intermediate-level conceptual and technical design skills.
In order to participate in this remote-learning course, you will need access to a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam, a multi-core processor, and a minimum of 8GB RAM. You will also need a digital camera (phone camera is fine), reliable access to the internet, and a flat working surface.
We will use the course site Canvas and meet on Zoom. Synchronous participation in the three-hour weekly class session is required. You can expect to spend an additional 4-6 hours per week completing assignments.
This is the second of three courses that comprise the Graphic Design Fundamentals Certificate at Evergreen. Courses must be taken in sequential order.
