In this course students will be exposed to a wide variety of Indigenous art and music as the background to exploring personal, social, cultural, and political identity.  Through sketching, writing, drawing, designing, oral storytelling, medicine bag making, students will examine their identity through artistic expression. We will use an Indigenous lens to analyze and discuss the role of art, as well as the cultural significance of gift making and giving within Indigenous communities. Students will be crafting their own art, and gifting art to local Indigenous communities.

This course is in-person at the Longhouse following the NPP Weekend Gatherings April 6 and 7, May 4 and 5, June 1 and 2 4:15pm - 6:45pm Saturdays and Sunday. Sketchbooks and gift making materials will be provided from the course fee.
