This offering delivers all of its instruction online via zoom and focuses on developing linguistic skills and cultural competence.

It is a second quarter course of a yearlong sequence and is designed for those who are ready for robust 'Second Year' level study.  All classes are conducted in French and are fast paced with interactive oral work that will bring up skills quickly and sharpen proficiency. Primary course objectives focus on increasing communicative skills through regular conversational practice, paired with cultural study, literature, and grammatical review.  Students will learn to express themselves clearly, both in oral and written work, develop fluidity, and expand listening comprehension in weekly discussions.  Students will increase their knowledge of literature and deepen their understanding of dramatic components of plays, honing verbal skills through aloud readings.. This quarter's curriculum focuses on reading a novel, plus selected theatrical works.  Class activities engage students in lively oral practice and regular interactions with native speakers in France, as well as in the classroom.

To successfully participate in this course, students will need a reliable internet connection to access class interactive activities via synchronous work.  Additional asynchronous connections are necessary for course materials linked to the textbook, plus access to Canvas, Zoom, Discord, and YouTube.
