This program is for intermediate to advanced students who are ready for intensive, full-time work in both theory and practice in visual and/or media arts. Students will have an opportunity to pursue individually-driven work, supported by program structures to help scaffold their projects through peer-led critiques, rigorous research, etc. This program provides students with an opportunity to plan and realize a project, complete visual research, and write papers appropriate to their topics. They will share research through presentations, work intensively in the studio together, and participate in demanding bi-weekly critiques. Professional development will be provided for students who are thinking of graduate school, careers in arts or media, arts or media internships, or art education at any level. Although enrolling for winter or spring only is possible, the two-quarter structure of the program will allow students to attempt more ambitious ideas and more coherent content through the process of editing, critique, re-evaluation, and formal practice. By the end of the program, students will produce a cohesive body of work that is exhibition, publication, or media-ready.
Anticipated Credit Equivalencies for each quarter:
8 - Practice with specifics related to your project (studio work, critique, presentations, etc.)
8 - Theory with specifics related to your project (research, writing, seminar work, etc.)
