This course explores how the most salient human truths may emerge from social margins, political fissures, and personal secrets. We will study five celebrated works of British literature, all of which unveil contradictions in English social relations that speak to our contemporary contexts. Designed especially for students considering careers teaching language arts, this course is open and welcome to everyone. The accelerated five-week format requires the completion of one major text per week. An optional reading group is available to those in the Olympia area who wish to meet in person.
