Application security is the discipline of protecting software application code and data against cyber threats. In this course, we will learn the basics of applications security and delve into the various attacks currently used by cybercriminals, such as:

  1. Buffer-overflow attacks
  2. Return-to-libc attacks
  3. Format string attacks
  4. Cross-site request forgery attacks
  5. Cross-site scripting attacks
  6. SQL injection attacks
  7. Clickjacking attacks

We will cover both the theory and practice of preventing and responding to these attacks.

 

This 4-credit course is part of the Cybersecurity Foundations Certificate sequence.

Students should have programming experience and basic knowledge of html, css, JavaScript, and C.
