In Advanced Electronics in Music II students will continue their work in the music technology labs, focusing on techniques for generating and processing musical information.  Students will work extensively in Ableton Live and Max/MSP, a visual programming environment, to develop algorithms and generative methods for creating music.  Students will complete weekly lab exercises and develop original electronic compositions informed by the work of electronic musicians such as Laurie Spiegel, Pauline Oliveros, Morton Subotnick, and others.

Prerequisites

Students entering this course are expected to have some foundation in music and/or music technology, either through the “Introduction to Electronics in Music” courses or equivalent experience.
