You Have a Choice
Applying test optional gives you the opportunity to apply with a depth that reflects who you really are.
Whether you use the Evergreen application or the common application, test-optional admissions is open to all first-year (freshman) applicants including homeschoolers, GED holders, international students, and transfer students with less than 40 transferable credits.
Applying test optional removes the requirement for SAT or ACT test scores. In place of test scores you will submit a 300-500 word essay responding to the prompt:
- "Many Evergreen academic programs are built around big-picture questions or ideas. What real-world questions are you curious about and what subjects would support your exploration of these questions?"
- "As a Greener you'll have many opportunities to attend seminars with students who have a variety of perspectives. Reflect on a time when you had a positive encounter with someone that fundamentally shifted your own perspective. How did this experience affect your own understanding?"
- "At Evergreen learning happens everywhere and all the time. Share a meaningful learning experience you pursued beyond the classroom. What motivated you? What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them?"
