I have worked in public human service for over 20 years in roles related to direct service, program design, policy development, administration, and leadership. The common thread through my career and education has been social justice as the driving force for public service practice.

My education background includes a bachelor’s degree from Evergreen (class of ‘02) with emphasis on Latin American studies and human rights, training as a mental health therapist, as well as doctoral research on public service leadership identity development and social justice. Outside of my teaching role, I serve as a DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) leader in a public service organization.

Education

Ph.D, Leadership Studies, Saint Martin's University, 2024; MAC, Counseling Psychology, Saint Martin's University, 2013; B.A., The Evergreen State College

Teaching Style

I bring a practitioner-scholar perspective that supports students to bridge gaps between theory, practical solutions, and action.

My personal experience as a first-generation student with a non-traditional education pathway remains an important influence on the teaching perspective. Learning is a beautiful and vulnerable endeavor that requires experimentation. It is my goal to create a learning environment that makes room for brave experimentation and realizes the capacity of human beings to participate in learning as a community.
