Employee Transit Pass
All permanent and temporary Evergreen employees are eligible for the STAR (State Agency Rider) pass. The STAR pass allows you to ride any Intercity Transit bus at any time for free, including Dial-A-Lift and Olympia Express service to Tacoma.
Benefits for Alternative Commuters
The benefits below are available to permanent employees of The Evergreen State College who use alternative methods of transportation at least 60% of the time: bicycle, bus, carpool, vanpool, telecommuting, or walking.
To sign up for any of these benefits, stop by Parking Services.
The Parking Passport entitles you to park for free for up to 44 days per year. The number of days you may park will be adjusted depending on when the Passport is issued during the year. For example, if you sign up in January, you would receive 33 passes. Passports are transferable, but will not be replaced if lost or stolen.
Showers & Lockers
Private showers and clothing lockers are available at no cost to CTR Employee Benefits Program participants. You must provide your own lock at the Costantino Recreation Center (CRC), and lockers are on a first come first served basis. There is a unisex restroom with shower available in the basement of Lab I. Lockers there must be checked out at Parking Services, located in Sem 1 Room 3157.
The SAFE-Ride program (State Agency Free Emergency Ride Program) is designed to make sure employees who used a commute alternative to get to work are not stranded:
- if an emergency occurs;
- you or a member of your family gets sick;
- you are asked to work late;
- your carpool or vanpool driver has to leave early.
The SAFE-Ride program provides Yellow Cab taxi service (up to 65 miles one way) to your home from Evergreen at no cost to you. You are allowed one stop on the way home in order to pick up your ill family member or to get medication. To request a SAFE-Ride, call Police Services at extension 6832.
