Understanding veterans policy issues can provide a unique perspective on public policy whether or not you are a veteran because of the wide range of issues affecting veterans and their families. This program will provide a broad overview of these policies including veterans’ disability benefits, survivors’ benefits, higher education, vocational training, health care, suicide prevention, housing and homelessness, employment programs and benefits, and some of the unique policies and programs meant to address the different barriers American Indian veterans and women veterans may encounter. This program will examine and analyze the intersection of federal, state, and local policies meant to help veterans with the military-to-civilian transition after their service to our nation and help them heal the visible and invisible wounds of war.
