The purpose of this TRiO Student Success Class is to provide eligible students with the academic support, tools, and resources that promote a successful transition beyond Evergreen and begin to understand what it takes to be successfully enter graduate school or begin a career.
In the Graduate School Preparation module of the course, students will focus on researching and selecting potential graduate school programs in their fields of interest, conduct an informational interview with a graduate program of their choosing, and, create a tailored timeline of the next steps to apply to a graduate program of their choice.
In the Career and Internship Preparation module, students will spend their time researching various career fields of interest, conducting an informational interview with a professional in a career field they may want to explore more, and learning the steps to a successful job search process, including navigating the college's job and internship site- Handshake, creating and revising a resume that can be used to apply for internships or careers and learning tips and tricks to ace an interview.
Throughout the quarter, students will focus on crafting and refining their Academic Statements which can be used to refine their learning journeys further and help articulate their next career and graduate school steps.
Over the course of the spring quarter, students will be expected to participate in seminars, lectures, and workshops actively. Students will receive two credits in professional identity development.
