Geared for early childhood and elementary school teachers, this science course will examine solar energy through African, Indigenous, Caribbean lenses. Grounded in storytelling and experimentation, it will cover the historic uses of passive solar energy as well as the way energy is collected when sunlight shines on photovoltaic (PV) cells. Students will also study the way photosynthesis converts solar energy into chemical energy.

This course builds upon the studies in Evergreen Tacoma’s Early Childhood Education program during the 2022/23 academic year.
