This course is an intermediate study of the principles and techniques in painting. Emphasis will be on expanded approach to painting what you see through close observation, along with abstraction and building a body of work.

This class will cover a wide range of technical, observational and pictorial painting issues, with an emphasis on the history of painting. Previous formal training in painting is recommended.

There will be an oil painting supply kit available in the bookstore, but if students have a preferred medium (acrylic, watercolor, gouache, etc.) they may choose to use that instead. A dedicated studio space will be provided on campus in the Arts Annex Building.

$75 fee covers supplies ($25) and required studio fee ($50). 

There will be a prepackaged supply kit for sale in the bookstore for roughly $75.

No textbook required.
