This class will serve as an introduction to oil painting through an intensive investigation of the figure, portrait and the landscape. Emphasis will be placed on developing technical skills through observational painting, while focusing on color theory. Paintings will be done from life through in-person sessions with the use of a dedicated studio space on campus.

This 2-week intensive is aimed to provide students with hands-on experience and a chance to explore, with emphasis placed on developing a personal practice. It is designed for students who have a strong work ethic and self-discipline and who are willing to work long hours in the studio on campus in company with their fellow students. There are no prerequisites for this course, though some drawing experience is suggested.
