Taught By:
In this one-quarter program, students will study Western music theory and apply theory concepts to their own creative work. They will explore relationships underpinning various styles of music, beginning with notation, scales, chords, and rhythm, and progressing to the study of harmony, analysis, and composition. Students will participate in weekly ear training and performance labs. This program is open to all levels. Musical instrument ability is encouraged but not required.
