Historically, the idea of infinity has caused a lot of thought and much confusion in the history of the world. The ancient Catholic Church banned the number zero for a period of time, because it led to the ideas of infinity. The idea of numbers-without-end held up mathematics for hundreds of years until a couple of very clever individuals cracked the code. The course will work for a whole range of interests and skill levels! Those who wish to learn some of the techniques of calculus will be able to so (and those who don’t, won’t need to). Those who want an introduction to the philosophical issues surrounding math will find that here. Math and its implications are all around us. This course will provide insights, opportunities, and tools for many.
