Chehalis Tribal Resilience

When
1:00pm - 2:50pm
Where
LONGHOUSE 1007A - Workshop

Join us for an engaging, informative presentation by Clinton Davis, Emergency Manager for the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation, and Cal Bray, Assistant Emergency Manager and Tribal Member, as they offer a unique look at Tribal Emergency Management and resilience.

This seminar will explore the role of Emergency Management within the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation, including preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation activities that help protect Tribal members, lands, culture, infrastructure, and community resources. Participants will gain insight into the Tribal Emergency Management program's responsibilities and how it works with local, state, federal, and Tribal partners before, during, and after disasters.

Drawing on more than a century of Tribal experiences, Clinton and Cal will share the history of how the Chehalis Tribe has faced and overcome emergencies and disasters, highlighting lessons learned, community resilience, and the importance of preserving culture and sovereignty during times of crisis.

The seminar will include a multimedia slide presentation, an interactive question-and-answer session, and a facilitated discussion exploring what these experiences mean for the Chehalis Tribe, other Tribal Nations throughout Washington State and beyond, and the broader emergency management community.

Attendees will leave with a greater understanding of Tribal Emergency Management, Tribal sovereignty in emergency operations, the value of culturally informed preparedness, and the critical role that partnerships play in building resilient communities for future generations.
