Advanced CERT Training: Earthquake Preparedness and Response

Get ready to shake things up! This advanced CERT training will help participants strengthen their earthquake preparedness and response skills in preparation for the Great Washington ShakeOut on October 15. The presentation will explore what to expect before, during, and after a major earthquake, including protective actions, personal and household preparedness, situational awareness, post-earthquake hazards, communications, and ways CERT-trained volunteers can safely support their families, workplaces, and communities.

Participants will review Drop, Cover, and Hold On, discuss realistic earthquake challenges, and apply CERT principles to post-earthquake decision-making. Whether you are refreshing your CERT skills or building greater confidence for the next earthquake, this session will provide practical tools you can use when the ground starts moving.
