What is Evergreen’s Shelton Promise?
Evergreen’s Shelton Promise is a simple and direct offer to Shelton School District graduates. That upfront offer is: 100% paid-for tuition and fees for four years, a need-based Promise Grant to offset cost-of-living expenses, targeted help to apply, and guidance and mentorship once you arrive.
The Shelton Promise Program is open to all Shelton School District students graduating in 2025 and 2026. Students are eligible regardless of income or country of birth.

What Does it Cover?
Shelton Promise has three core components:
- Free tuition for up to four years (12 quarters).
- Quarterly Promise Grant which can be used toward housing, transportation, and other college-related costs. ·
- Access to support services and advising beginning in high school and lasting through completion of a degree.
Program Requirements
Students are encouraged to start the application process during the fall of their senior year.
The following criteria must be met to be admitted:
- Shelton School District 2025 or 2026 graduate
- Attend The Evergreen State College directly from high school
- 2.0 unweighted high school grade point average (GPA) or higher
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA) by July 1 for the following academic year.
- SAT/ACT scores, essay, or interview with a Shelton Promise admissions counselor
- Complete College Academic Distribution Requirements (CADRs)*
*Students can be missing up to 3 years of CADRs and still be admissible.

How Do Students Remain Eligible?
- Reapply for FAFSA/WAFSA each year.
- Maintain full-time enrollment (12 credits or more)
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress (SAP) toward a baccalaureate degree.
- Meet annually with a Shelton Promise counselor

Choose the subjects most compelling to you without being limited by traditional majors or minors. You can even combine subjects from different disciplines to create a degree that is truly all your own.
