Campus Food Bank Distribution
Evergreen has partnered with the Thurston County Food Bank to create a pop-up food bank for the community. Students, staff, faculty and community members are welcome and encouraged to collect resources.
The food bank pop-up occurs every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from 2 - 4 pm. Food can be picked up the Olympia campus at Evergreen's Basic Needs Center in the College Activities Building, room 135.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I have dietary restrictions?
There are lots of options to choose from. Speak to one of the volunteers at the pop-up to find items that meet your needs.
Can I walk up to the pop-up?
The pop-up is primarily a drive-up operation, but you can walk up too. We encourage people to drive if possible due to the weight of the food boxes and bags.
What if I can't make it to the pop-up?
Can't make it? No problem!
No need to be there in person to access these resources. Someone can pick up food for you, we encourage community members to collect resources for other households.
So, if you stop by and know of anyone who needs food, or you're someone not able to stop by, a friend or roommate can pick food up for you.
I have a conflict and don't have anyone else to pick up for me
We can help advocate for you with your faculty member about allowing you time off class to access the Food Bank. Faculty are generally very understanding and will make accommodations to be able to access resources. You can contact the Basic Needs Center and Food Bank coordinator to assist you with this.
Is there somewhere else on campus to get food resources?
Yes! The Basic Needs Center has a shelf-stable food pantry you can access, as well as many other immediate resources. We also assist in advocating and connecting students with long-term assistance on and off campus. For more information or to schedule an appointment, visit the WordPress site.
The Basic Needs Center is located in the Campus Activities Building, 135.
Do I need to bring my own bags?
Nope! The Food Bank pop-up will provide food boxes/bags for you.
Who organizes the food bank?
The Food Bank is run by Thurston County Food Bank and Evergreen's Center for Community-Based Learning and Action. Special thanks to Washington Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA members, food and agriculture fellow and community service work study students, the Geoduck Student Union (GSU), Washpirg, the Black Student Union (BSU) and students in the "SOS: Taking Action in Our Community" program for their support.
