Dr. Maxine Mimms will be celebrated Tuesday, March 1 at The Evergreen State College’s Tacoma campus.
Dr. Mimms began teaching at The Evergreen State College in 1972. She taught working adults college-level courses at her kitchen table in the historic Hilltop neighborhood and it was at that table where Evergreen’s Tacoma campus was born. Her vision was to bring a college education to working and adult learners – especially those living in the inner city.
