Challenge Course

The Evergreen State College Challenge Course is a great way to have fun while building teamwork, communication and trust in any group.

Operations on the Evergreen Challenge Course are currently suspended and we are not taking future bookings. We're sorry for this inconvenience and hope we can host your group again in the future.

The Challenge Course winds through a forested area of Evergreen's campus near our soccer fields. Facilitated course programs can last from two to a full eight-hour day, with trained staff facilitating your team all the way.

Low Ropes Course

Try your hand at supporting a teammate on the Trust Fall, test your balance and strength on the Wild Woozy or Geoduck Walk, discover the secrets of the Giant’s Finger, or go for a sea worthy adventure on the Whale Watch!

These activities require groups to exercise creative problem-solving, communication and teamwork in a physically engaging environment. Our facilitators work hard to safely involve all participants.

People play a game where they have to do stuff with there hands.
Balancing on some rope and stuff.
Hoola Hoops get passed around people and things and stuff.

High Ropes Course

Zip line course

Have fun speeding down the 500 foot double zip line, take a Leap of Faith at 40 feet in the air, or rely on your partner to conquer the Giant’s Ladder. High ropes elements will bring out the adventurous side of everyone.

These elements invoke personal or partner challenges and build on the topics discovered while on the low ropes course. High ropes elements are all at height and will require participants to wear protective equipment, this includes a harness and helmet.

Preparing Your Team to Participate

Share these tips with everyone who will be coming to the Challenge Course:

  • If you're coming Monday through Friday, you'll need to pay for one or more parking passes.
  • Everyone participating will need to sign a liability waiver. Under 18? A parent or guardian signature is required.
  • Bring plenty of water, snacks or lunch, insect repellant, and sunscreen.
  • Wear closed-toed shoes: no sandals or flip flops.
  • Wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting dirty, something good for working out and climbing around in.
  • Bring outerwear appropriate for the weather, including extra layers, like rain jackets, warm sweaters and socks, hats or gloves.
  • If you have long hair, secure it away from your face.
  • Leave your jewelry and loose clothing at home. These items are notorious for getting lost and even caught in the challenge course’s equipment

We encourage bringing cameras to document all the fun you will be having, but please do not take them on an element with you. The Challenge Course staff would be happy to take a photo for you.
