Office of the President
Dear Campus Community,
Thank you to all staff, faculty, and students across the college who have expressed concern about the need for better and more internal communications.
January 6, 2020
Dear Students, Staff and Faculty,
Welcome back! With winter quarter beginning, I write to share important information about the 2020-21 athletics season.
Just prior to the holidays, I discussed the remaining athletics events and season with senior staff, COVID health and safety professionals, our coaches, the Cascade Collegiate Conference commissioner and other college presidents.
Dear staff and faculty,
Dear Students, Staff and Faculty,
As we prepare for a tough COVID winter, I wanted to update you where we are with Geoduck athletics, and basketball in particular.
After talking with our coaches, campus COVID-19 leaders, senior leadership, the Cascade Collegiate Conference commissioner, and the other college presidents of conference schools, it’s clear that in the case of our men’s and women’s basketball teams, returning to play now or in January is unrealistic.
Dear Faculty and Staff,
Our Evergreen community has stood strong during this pandemic, taking precautions and following best practices to stay safe.
Yet, we know COVID transmission rates are rising exponentially in our region. Following Gov. Inslee’s recent call to minimize contact with people outside their own household, it’s time for us to renew our efforts to reduce the risk of on-campus exposure and transmission.
Dear Faculty and Staff,
Congratulations on a successful launch of this academic year. Our academic programs, classes, and student and residential life events are successfully underway. And, thus far, all students living on campus have tested negative for the virus.
Your commitment to our shared vision and work got us here. You play a critical role in making Evergreen a welcoming, inclusive college dedicated to student success. Thank you.
