Dear Campus Community,

Thank you for your perseverance and patience over the last few weeks as we now turn to spring quarter, which will begin April 2.

Given challenges and unpredictability around the COVID-19 virus, Evergreen is now planning to continue with remote instruction through the end of spring quarter 2020.

This decision, which we made the evening of March 24, follows Governor Inslee’s March 23 statewide mandate to stay at home. Although we had originally hoped to be able to return to in-person instruction toward the end of April, continued uncertainty about the course of the virus has made it necessary to postpone.

By making the decision now to plan for remote instruction through spring quarter, we hope we can alleviate at least some questions and unknowns for our learning community.

Evergreen staff and faculty are working hard to create the best possible remote learning experience and to continue service to students. We know that Evergreen students have also been preparing themselves, reaching out to faculty and connecting with each other as we gear up for next week. Even though we are all working remotely, we are still connected as a community.

A shipment of laptops is due here early next week and we should soon have them available for check-out by enrolled students who lack access to computers. Please watch our Evergreen.edu website and your email for updates and more details on spring quarter operations.

Academic advising, financial aid and other campus services are available remotely

Thank you for your flexibility, generosity, and courage during a disruptive time. Together, we will endure this and emerge stronger. Please take care.

Sincerely,

George
