Olympia Campus Reopens Saturday, June 3
June 2, 2017 3 p.m.
The Olympia campus of The Evergreen State College will return to regular operations tomorrow, Saturday, June 3. Weekend classes and activities will take place, Evergreen staff will be on duty, and standard weekend services will be available. Law enforcement is present on the campus at all hours.
Law enforcement officials are continuing to examine a phoned-in threat to the college, which was received by Thurston County Communication 911 on Thursday morning, June 1. On the advice of law enforcement, President George Bridges then made the cautionary decision to close campus. Law enforcement teams searched campus buildings to ensure they were secure. They determined that no one was actively posing a threat.
“Public safety at Evergreen is our top priority,” said Sandra Kaiser, vice president for college relations. “As we return to normal operations, local law enforcement remains extremely vigilant, and we will respond quickly if the situation changes.”
