Evergreen Parkway to close temporarily on June 14 – 15

The Evergreen Parkway will be temporarily closed Friday, June 14, from approximately 3 – 5 p.m. and Saturday, June 15, from approximately 12 – 2 p.m., due to heavy traffic and congestion for The Evergreen State College graduation ceremony and South Puget Sound Community College graduation respectively.
“This year, Evergreen and SPSCC will have their commencement ceremonies back to back on the Evergreen campus on June 14 and 15,” said Evergreen spokesperson Allison Anderson. “This short closure of the Parkway will allow us to get our graduates and their families quickly and safely on their way after the celebration, with minimal disruption to the neighborhood.”
The Evergreen State College and RCE Traffic Control will provide traffic control and detours. The temporary closure will be at 17th Ave. northbound, and at Kaiser Road southbound to allow an expedient exit from the Evergreen campus at the conclusion of commencement.
Residents, business owners and employers who live inside the area are advised to allow extra traveling time. Buses and other municipal vehicles will have access during the closure. Traffic controllers will assist to provide guidance.
