Evergreen Names Former Diplomat as Vice President of College Relations

The Evergreen State College has named Sandra Kaiser as its vice president for college relations. Serving as an American diplomat from 1986 to 2013, Kaiser managed U.S. embassies and directed public affairs operations around the globe and at the U.S. Department of State, working with presidents from Ronald Reagan to Barack Obama.
More recently, she served as communications director for the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR), which manages more than 5 million acres of state-owned lands and fights wildfire on behalf of the people of Washington. Before joining DNR in 2014, Kaiser worked at Evergreen for a year in media and community relations.
“Sandy brings a completely unique perspective, experienced leadership and profound commitment to public service,” said President George Bridges. “She will be a special asset for the college and our community.”
Kaiser, a third-generation Washingtonian, sees her new role at Evergreen as a step along a professional journey which has taken her around the world and now leads home.
“This is a time to cherish and advocate for what is good, local and important,” said Kaiser. “Evergreen offers an outstanding, personal education that can match anything out there. I’m looking forward helping people understand what a treasure exists here in Olympia.”
