2008 Opus Prize Winner Speaks on the Lives of the Dalit (Untouchable) Caste

Krishnamal Jagannathan, founder of "Land for Tillers' Freedom," has devoted her life to the Dalit ("Untouchable") Caste in Tamil Nadu, India. She will receive the 2008 International Opus Prize in Seattle on November 18. The Opus Prize is a $1 million faith-based humanitarian award and two $100,000 awards given annually to recognize unsung heroes of any faith tradition, anywhere in the world, solving today’s most persistent social problems.

She will speak 7 p.m., Thursday, November 13, in the Recital Hall, Comm. Bldg.
