This is a class that studies color theory through the landscape. It will provide a foundation for painting with gouache on paper while working (optimistically) outdoors in nature, plein air style. Students will be introduced to the history and practices of color theory, while studying art historically significant examples of landscape painting. No prerequisites are required, though a background in the basics of drawing is recommended.

Our work will be conducted remotely using both Canvas and Zoom. I will offer alternative assignments and ways of participating if conditions or illness prevent students from accessing our synchronous meetings, which will allow students to earn comparable credit.
