While a relatively new area of study, Cognitive Psychology has rapidly grown to be one of the field’s most popular areas. It involves the study of mental processes: how your brain processes the vast ocean of information from inside and outside yourself, and somehow still finds time to do the work of being you. We will begin with the basics of perception and attention, and go on to topics such as language, problem-solving, knowledge, imagery, and decision-making.

Lectures and workshops will contextualize the material. Learning will include recorded lectures and video-conferencing workshop activities. Our approach willemphasize participation in synchronous (live) sessions;however,if students find themselves unable to participate due to technology, caregiving obligations, economic disruption, health risk, or illness, they can work with faculty to pursue alternate options to earn related credit.
