In this introductory course, students will learn about the history of the printed poster and design their own screen print edition. Students will gain hands-on experience and a strong understanding of technical skills in this intensive summer course. Assignments will focus on design and layout to support their own personal message or significant cause. From drafting by hand to transferring an image to digital film or handmade stencil, this course is a great introduction to the rich world of screen printing. In a community-based studio, students will work together to share their discoveries and discuss the subject matter of their work, expanding their critical observational skills and visual literacy.
